Gunnison Valley Mentors is a nonprofit youth mentoring organization serving Gunnison, Crested Butte and Lake City. GV Mentors matches youth ages 6 to 17 with mentors to build resiliency skills.

Gunnison Valley Mentors harnesses the transformative power of mentorship to guide young individuals toward a successful future. Our program pairs local youth with dedicated volunteer mentors who provide guidance, support, and friendship, helping each mentee build confidence, resilience, and a sense of purpose. As the only mentorship initiative of its kind in the region, we play a vital role in shaping the lives of our community’s next generation.

The impact of our program is measurable and profound. Over 300 mentorships in 2024 alone demonstrated significant gains in school engagement, adult bonding, and positive decision-making, with mentees showing reduced risk-taking behaviors and stronger attitudes against substance use. By fostering meaningful relationships, Gunnison Valley Mentors equips youth with the skills and encouragement needed to thrive academically, socially, and personally, ensuring they are prepared to contribute positively to society.
