The Gunnison Congregational Church - United Church of Christ is a progressive Christian voice that welcomes and embraces diversity, striving to be a distinct and diverse community of Christians. Rooted in the United Church of Christ, it takes the Bible seriously, sometimes metaphorically and sometimes as a parable, pledging completely to the faith and ways of Jesus. The church works to express love as Jesus taught: by loving God, neighbor, and self, uniting personal faith with social justice, prayer with peacemaking, and spirituality with action. God has called the church to celebrate faith in service to the community, to support and nurture spiritual growth, and to promote justice and peace. It is inclusive, recognizing the equality and dignity of all people, and its ministry prepares members for an active faith, supporting alliance building with initiatives consistent with its mission and values.

The church also supports the wider mission of the Rocky Mountain Conference of the United Church of Christ and the world-wide mission of the United Church of Christ. The church is open to all as a teaching and resource center, offering Sunday worship services at 10 AM where visitors are welcomed to participate, sharing concerns and joys. Services use inclusive language and communion is open to all without respect to creed or membership. Through scripture, music, art, and literature, attendees learn about and are inspired by the relationship between humans and the Holy. A children’s message is also provided.
